My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Marion, NC
I have a friend who is 16 will be 17 in October and is wanting to move out she doesn't get slog well with her mom or two sisters. She is going too stay in school and try and get a job can she get in trouble for leaving home? Some other people we hang out with say they have called the sheriffs department and say that any one that is under the age of 18 can not leave with out parent permission an if they do when the parent asks them to come back they have to and if they don't they will have to deal with juvenile court. But then also we have had parents tell her that she could leave that they couldn't do anything cause there kids have done the same and that all they could do is ask for her to come back and if she didnt then there was nothin they could do. And yet we have a friend who left home when she was 15 and had got pregnant at 16 and her mom tried making her come home and couldn't make her and nobody could do anything about her moving out of her mothers. Please help as soon as possible will be a big help.
