Hello i'm a 16 year old girl, turning 17 within 2 months and i'm seeking a chance to get emancipated. I know getting emancipated is a difficult process. I have many reasons of wanting to get emancipated. My father is c-r-a-z-y. At an emotional level i'm completely drained having to live with him. He is unjust (i'm not just saying this in a child to parent perspective). My doctor who has known my family a very long time had prescribed me to medicine for my migraines and living in oregon a person is free to make their own health decisions at the age of 15. My dad without permission had went and picked up my medication and withheld it from me. He verbally abuses me and we also have different religious views. He persists that i go to church when he himself doesn't go. And my mom is too scared to say otherwise. I'm wondering what my chances of getting emancipated are. Here's some things about me:
-i get paid an average of $1,100 a month ($530.00 give or take every 2 weeks)
-i have my own car
-i have at least $1,000 saved up
-my co-worker (20 years of age, female) had insisted i stay with her, my rent would be an average of $200.00
-i'm going to be going to school in the fall (like always) to get my high school diploma
-i'm responsible and believe i exhibit maturity
i know that i will be having to go to court for a hearing about my case to get emancipated. My intentions are not to grill my father or to complain about my living but to instead be able to show the judge that i am at a mature enough level to be able to live on my own and be responsible for all my actions. If you could help me prepare myself for what i have to do to higher my chances of being emancipated i would highly appreciate it! Thank you so much!
