Default Problem Regarding Mexican Citizen Living in USA Applying for Chinese Visa

    this person is:
    1. Mexican passport holder (with more than 6 months till expiration)
    2. US Green Card holder (expired but has an extension letter that expires in 2 months)
    3. Lives in the United States

I understand in order to apply for Chinese Visa, the person needs to have Mexican passport and US Green Card that BOTH have more than 6 months till expiration. As a result, applying through the Chinese Embassy here in the States is out of the question.

    My question is,
if the person applies through a Chinese consulate in Mexico, as a Mexican citizen, would that work? If so, would that jeopardize the person's chances of successfully renewing the green card in the states? Lastly, if all else fails, how will this person be able to speed up the process of obtaining another residency letter that extends expiration beyond 2 months?

    Thanks

What happened when the applicant called the Consulate to ask the question?

    1. Called several agencies that help with chinese visa application in the states. Most stated that both passport and green card need to have more than 6 months left till expiration. They don't know the process of applying through a consulate in mexico.

    2. US immigration office has no response as to why the process it taking so long. In addition, any activity involving an effort to hide US residency (such as applying through a chinese consulate in mexico) is obviously frowned upon.

    2. Haven't called any Chinese consulate in Mexico yet. Wanted to get some advice before doing so.

We can't possibly guess what the Chinese Consulate in Mexico will say or do.

I understand. Assuming applying Chinese Visa in Mexico is successful, would that jeopardize the person's chances of obtaining green card renewal? Especially when the person is leaving USA with a residency extension letter that expires in less than 2 months?
