My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Washington
My boyfriends daughter, whom we see every other weekend, cries every night when we put her to sleep (she is almost 7) My boyfriend and I sat with her this weekend and asked her why she cries every time we go to bed on the weekends. She said she doesn't know how to sleep alone. Confused by this statement, we asked for further information. She said that it was cause she sleeps with Grandma (whom currently has custody due to my boyfriend being military, being out of the country for the last 3 years in Germany and just came back from deployment and is currently working on his parenting plan for full custody now that he is stateside) We asked "like you sleep in Grandma's room with her at night" she said no. " I sleep in the bed with her, I don't have a bed so I share hers"
I about croaked. I get that when you are little it doesn't matter and it is in no sexual nature, but is there any law in the state of Washington, stating that she must be provided her own bed? I know that there is for children that are placed in foster homes, and in the care of a relative. (which I feel this is) If so, does anybody know where to find such law? As his daughter is talking to us more and more, we are finding out more and more, and are getting a little concerned for the care of her until we can get the parenting plan completed....
thanks so much
