I completely agree with you, Jared. This wedding should be held off for a bit if you're having money and legal issues.

Being a volunteer for 4 years, you would not believe how many times we have read stories like this.
"I went in for a couple items, my arms were full, so I put stuff in my purse and forgot it".
"I had the money to pay"
You can bet the prosecutor and judge have heard it a million times.
Other popular ones:
"My cell phone rang and a few items fell into my purse while I dug for my phone"
"I was off my medication and had no idea what happened" (while they drove to the store, filled a cart, went out the door and started to load the trunk).
"My kid grabbed something and put it in his stroller underneath him"
"My kids were acting up and while trying to round them up, I forgot to pay for the entire cart full of groceries".
"My kid needed change for one of those lobby games and I took the whole cart with me to give her the 75 cents"
"I didn't know my friend was going to shoplift, even when he/she asked me to put items in my purse".
(There's a lot more, and you bet prosecutor and judge have heard it)
Yes, hold off on the wedding until this is over with. Right now, you need the money for attorney fees, court costs and fines, civil demand. You can get married at the courthouse, and have a huge party once you know you are not going to jail. Also, since you have the money/income for a big wedding, you will not be eligible for a Public Defender. I'd actually hold off entirely until it's all over...
