Making the spreadsheet is part of forming a budget. I'll take any tips I can get honestly Typically rent is 300-400 where I live (For 1-2 bedroom apartments), but for me taxes would only add up to $150. I'm used to not having a lot of money and have always known how to buy things on the cheap. I think creating a budget will help me stick to that. I'm not going to say it's not scary, but I am trying to deal with a lot of the things that could cause problems before I take a chance. So far buying my own food has fit into my spreadsheets and stayed under my income (Even when I add in taxes, utilities, and other necessities).
Just so that others reading this thread won't misunderstand, 300-400 a month for rent in small town Indiana is honestly credible. One thing OP that you also have to include in your budget is homeowners insurance. It shouldn't be outrageous but you need to price it and include it in your budget. Car insurance too if you will need a car.
