My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY

4 days ago I made a mistake and attempted to steal a watch that someone had broken out of the box at walmart. It costs $13.91. I fit hid the box. A loss prevention officer picked the box up and followed me until I was about to exit the store. He stopped me.
Immediately I pulled out the watch and tried to give it back. He told me to go to the security room and followed me there. In the room he asked me for my ss# and I gave him my license. He said no charges would be pressed. He said I would receive a civil demand letter asking for 5 times the amount of the watch. I PAID for the watch before I left, which the officer watched me do. I then left. I am 17 years old and do not want my parents to receive the letter because its certified mail and they would have to sign for it. My question is will I receive a civil demand letter even though i paid for the watch?

Please don't give me your opinion on how stupid I am for shoplifting. I've never thought about doing it before. And I will never do it again. I feel terrible for what I did. Thank you for your proceeding help.
