My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Pa I was 18 and wild, I hit a parked vehicle and had no insurance. They sued me in civil court and I had a judgement put on me, and they attached it to my drivers license....so it was suspended until I payed the judgement....that was 1982. I am in my 50s now and live in another state, and i can not renew my current drivers license now due to the NDR! I called Pa DOT, and they said I have to clear up this judgement, and send them a prerecipe of satisfaction, and they will recalculate my suspension. I called the courthouse and spoke with the Prothonotary who informed me that there was a flood in 1992 and a lot of records were lost, but I was able to get a docket number and the name of the guy I hit. This was 31 years ago, he doesn't live at the same address, nor is he in business anymore.....what if he has passed away? How can I clear this up???? I don't know if there is a statue of limitations on a civil judgement....???
