i recently got a minor in minnesota, just a few months before my 21st. i had worked for 11 hours that day and afterwards went back to my apartment where i had a sip of my roomates mix drink. our friends came over and we all took a shot, then i left with my boyfriend to go to his place. i took my roomates drink with me because it was in my nalgene bottle and she had other things to drink. on our way to his place we were stopped by two police officers who took the situation to the extreme.
after stopping us on the sidewalk they asked us what we were doing. my boyfriend (who is of age) explained the situation and they decided he was 'being difficult.' (the fact that he is 6'6'' and has a deep voice might have had something do with her feeling intimitated.)
immediatly they split us up, called for back-up, frisked for weapons, and threw us into seperate cars. i was more than willing to comply with all of their orders, all the while feeling like i comitted some horrible crime.
i was sent away with a minor (blowing a .02) and an open bottle violation. the charges equaling 300 dollars.
even though i was drinking underage (one shots worth of drinking) and i had an open bottle with me, i feel like this punishment was a little harsh. is there anything worth going to court for. i wont go broke paying the bill, but i really dont want it on my perminant record. any advice?
