My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia.
I got caught when I went to exchange items at store. I went to exchange and they asked me to find exact price item and when started exchange they said return is not possible as original item was discounted so return first. I got frustrated to avoid this hassle, I put new items in bag and left old items at store (both items were even priced per tag) but I got caught as I left the store and they took me back of the store for shoplifting as item I took, I did not paid for. I did not had my license so all they took was my address. No police was called and they made me sign waiver that I will not return to store and I could be prosecuted for this before I left.
Now I have $150 civil case letter from Attorney. I feel terribly bad for my mistake but paying this file will it consider admission of guilt and can they file criminal case (no SSN, no bday, no driving license)?
thanks,
