    Default Payday Loan Identity Theft

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California

New here, quick question. Someone used my personal information for a payday loan from a offshore site. It was placed back in Oct of last year, and has been taking $150 ea. month (I know, I know, I didn't check and react when I should have, although I'm a student and rarely spend money on anything besides food). Anyway, since the principle was $500 I'd imagine it's been paid off already yet they continue to charge. This would look suspicious in terms of trusting me as not being the one who took out the loan, and they'd be correct but I've never had a job before so how could I be the one at fault?

Anyway, seeing as I didn't apply for this loan, but have used my account since then, and have no job (disqualifying me for the loan), where should I go from here? Do I file a Police report, and then close all my accounts?

It appears you have some complicity in this. You are allowing this "thief" to use your bank account?

Hang on. They've been taking money? So you basically accepted the debt?

Offshore payday loan company? Something smells there. You should close your account ASAP and open another one at another bank. They deposited 500.00 and so far have taken back what, 1050.00?
    Get your account closed.

Essentially yes, as a student who accepts student loans each semester I only spend on food, etc. so the amount isn't entirely noticeable when I 1. rarely look at statements 2. It's mixed within other expenses. It appears as $150 in form of ACH withdrawals ea. month, the only deposit from them was the initial $500. Anyway, I'm in this situation now and can't dwell on my lack of oversight in the past. My question is how to proceed from here: Can I freeze accounts/ report fraud/police report/what do i do? Are they going to threaten me with legal action if I freeze accounts?

    Let's back up a second.

How did they get your bank account information?

    Who is the "someone"?

The site is Bottom Dollar Payday, or so the tel number indicates and they're located in the West Indies. My main concern is if I stop the account they are going to threaten legal action or something similar and since it's my only account I use I have probably used some of the funds (although this money is mixed with my legitimate money). Though I probably shouldn't be too concerned since they've taken out $150 ea month .

No clue who this "someone" is that's why I claim possible fraud. Possible online transaction/spam email (although I never open any of them). I have no idea who this Bottom Dollar Payday people are, but that's who put the money in the account and have been taking it out ever since.

A poor student, who does not notice this money being moved around, hmm. So what did the bank advise, when you discussed this with the manager?
