    Default Employment Ramifications of Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Anywhere

This is just another reason not to do it!

Wow, I can't even get a job doing DATA ENTRY more than 4 years later. Seriously.

Now when I think of the financial losses. Figure I made over $21,000 a year. I haven't been able to find work in 4 years. Do the math. $21,000x4=$84,000 in income I did not make.

Now while I was doing it to try to get my grandmother to kick me out....yikes. $2000+ in fines. $84,000 in wage loss.

    Over 1 frickin item.

Come on kids....tell me that makes that $6.00 thing of makeup worth stealing....

Moral turpitude is a hard thing to live down. I was in court the other day on the GDC shoplifting/Drug Possession docket. The judge when offering diversion told the assembled defendants that he'd rather have a drug user than a thief working for him.

I wish at the time...I had thought of buying a joint.

I just wanted out of my grandmothers house so bad.

And can we get this as a permanent post for people to read?

    Thanks

Concur that this would be a good sticky, and good for our Pandy for posting it. Well done!

However, I can't help wishing that there were a way we could get them to read it BEFORE they need it.

I am working on for schools and colleges for a small fee.

"Elder Abandonment"...how do you get away if you can't leave without charges? I was screwed either way. My grandmother always said if I did anything wrong, got in trouble, she would kick me out. So I did the first thing I could think of. Wish the doctor or the lawyer I talked to could have suggested other options than just take care of her until she passed.

The speech is halfway written. I need to know more ramifications for minors....getting kicked off the school extracurriclar events, for example? I don't know much of what happens to juveniles. Would love input.

I think what bugs me most....is here....there is a tax credit. If you are a convicted FELON and are just out of prison...here's a tax credit to hire you, here's help with housing.

Misdemenor = no jail time = screwed for years.

I think it requires 5 years post conviction but Michigan does have a simple to apply for expungemt. You might start looking into the possiblity.

Great! So when my dogs look up at me with their big sad eyes 'cause folks wised up and read this sorta thing before they went to the mall, thereby wrecking my job security, which in turn led to a Kibbles reduction, what exactly do I tell them?

    Pandie did it!!!!

That's exactly what I'd tell 'em!
