My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I met a man 4 years ago who is now my fiancé. He committed a murder when he was 16 years old, was tried as an adult, given life (I think---he doesn't like to talk about it) and sent to prison when he was 17. He was released when he was 24 after getting his GED, an associates degree and a bachelor's degree. He is now in his 50's and gainfully employed on the same job for many years. He has never violated parole and sees his probation officer the first Monday of every month since his release 31 years ago. According to the terms of his probation, he will be on parole until he is 75 years old. Call me naive, but I've never heard of such a thing. I was under the understanding that the maximum probation/parole in the US was far less than that. Is there any way that his probation/parole can be reduced or eliminated? Especially since he has lived a stellar life every since his release. Thank you for responding.
