My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: MS / TN
getting a collection notice for a bill saying they are going to sue me if i don't pay and i'll have to pay the bill + attorney + court fees.
(1) someone told me they try to threaten people by telling them they will have to pay attorney fees and what not, I am sure they can ask for these fees, but is it common to be sued for attorney fees and court fees? or basically if the judge finds me guilty than I just pay the fee I own them?
(2) it's not a lot of money, I am sure if it was a lot of money like $10,000 they would be after it, is there a minimum amount it has to be for them to sue, or is there a "common/normal" amount of money and if it exceeds that, than they will sue?
Basically someone told me they can't make me pay their attorney fees, so if the attorney fees is $1,000 (for example), than the debt I own them would have to be significantly higher (say $2,500) for them to pursue legal action.
