Default Obtaining a Lost Title if Owner is Deceased

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: North Carolina/Texas

My grandmother passed away last year and left her vehicle to me. The title for the vehicle though has been lost and we need to get a new title in my name. My grandmother lived though in North Caroline and I live in Texas. Kind of at a lost on how to obtain a replacement title from North Carolina. If it help my father is the executor of her estate, but my dad doesn't know how to obtain a lost title either. Do we need to physically go to North Carolina to obtain the title. Any help will be appreciated.

I believe the executor should be able to get the title by mail. Actually, I've found the NC DMV will answer emails/phone calls.. see the contact us link at the bottom of this page: http://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/vehicle/title/replacement/
