My question involves a marriage in the state of: Nevada, Las Vegas
My husband and I got married in Las Vegas Nevada in August 2001. I was 16 years old, and my mom came with us and approved the marriage by signing paperwork there.
Last year I found a notarized paper stating that my mom had given my grandma (her mom) legal guardianship of me until I turned 18. It was done about a year before I got married.
BACKGROUND:
My dad isn't in the picture, don't know him.
Husband was 19 at the time of marriage.
My grandma was against us getting married, but never mentioned she had guardianship of me.
My mom is kind of mentally retarded, she has brain damage from a childhood accident.
No one ever told me about the notarized paper, I found it in my mom's safe.
My husband and I have kids together.
I live in California now, and when I got married as well.
My question is if my husband and I are legally married? We are looking to get divorced or separated, but I'm not sure if we were ever legally married in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
