Caught Stealing at a Walmart, Police Not Called

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington State.

Alright i get that im a bad person, lets skip that bit. I stole less than 15$ worth of items, got taken to the back room of doom got soc, phone number taken down, my picture was taken. No police involved, nothing to be signed, told me id get a two hundred dollar fine and told me not to let it happen again.

So my question goes along the lines of ...so is that it ? Ive read horror stories about my same situation about having this on their record.
This is my first offense.
I understand the seriousness of theft, i just had a break down yada yada no excuses.
