Exclamation Transporting an Unregistered Vehicle to Another State and Registering it There

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Nebraska / Florida

I recently bought a 2010 Toyota back at the end of February, which the registration has yet to be done on. The very next day, it was brought to my attention that my parents had been experiencing some financial problems, which eventually led to them filing for bankruptcy, which is where the part about Florida comes into play. Since I have yet to register the car, which is my first, & we're moving to Florida, am I allowed to wait until we actually MOVE to Florida to register my car? Will I have legal repercussions upon never registering my vehicle in the state I purchased it & owning it two months past the 30 day registration period?

I've had to use my money to help my mother & father keep up on the bills & haven't been able to come up with the money to register the vehicle. With my own bills & helping with there, it's basically impossible. I just don't want to drive all the way to Florida, only to tell me I have to drive back to Nebraska to register the vehicle first.

All help/advice is appreciated. I've been stressed about my own situation, let alone helping my parents. Thanks in advance!

How were you planning on getting the vehicle to Florida? Do you have a FL DL and address already?

You can't drive an unregistered vehicle. How are you planning to get the car to Florida?
You're already breaking the law. You only had 30 days to legally register the car in Nebraska.
Once you move to Florida you have TEN days to register it there.
I believe you can get transit tags from florida to allow you to drive it down there.

How do you hold title now? It might be easier to make sure you get a title transfer in Nebraska so it's clear when you register in florida.

The transit tag issue was why I was trying to determine where in the moving process he was.

I realize the law is being broken, or else I wouldn't be on here asking the question. The thirty days was over on March 22nd, so it will be a little over two months unregistered. The moment I move to Florida, I'm claiming legal residency once I get my driver's license. We're driving six cars down all following each other. The Florida DMV says to claim residency, you have to first get a license in Florida, & need the title from you previous state of residency & VIN verification. I'm just confused as to if the car would need to first be registered in Nebraska, & if I would have trouble doing so in Florida if it never was, since it's a new vehicle, or to me anyway.

I plan on calling the DMV for a clear answer & see what I'm allowed to do, I just wanted to see if there was anything someone here could tell me before I'm probably disappointed by the answer the Nebraska DMV will tell me.

As you are not a FL resident, I suggest you transfer title to your name in NE, drive the car down legally, then transfer your title after establishing residency.
