My question involves name change laws in the State of: TEXAS
This is not something that is affecting us in a bad way just very annoying. Neither I nor my husband have middle names. So in my birth certificate, they added my mother's maiden name. On my social security card, I have only my first name and my father's last name. (Let's pretend my name is Bethany Green Sullivan)
My husband does not have a middle name either. So his birth certificate is the same way as mine, but his social security card has both his last names included. (Let's pretend his name Jack Brown Milliard)
I changed my last name after we had been married for 5 years. My social security card was successfully to Bethany Brown, my driver's license though is (Bethany Green Brown) due to me not having a middle name.
The only trouble is when we are referred to Mr. & Mrs. Milliard, due to my spouse's mother's last name. This is annoying because that is not our name! We always have to explain that Milliard is not my last name, and we always get this weird look from people.
Sometimes they only add my husband's last name to certain things, so he turns into Jack Milliard, so sometimes it seems like our daughter, Katherine Jay Brown, doesn't have her father's last name. It is just very annoying, when it come's to thing's like bank accounts, mortgage loans, etc. it's all wrong.
All we want, is to be know as Mr. Jack and Bethany Brown and their lovely daughter Katherine Jay Brown. Not much to ask for is it? How can we fix this. Any help is greatly appreciated, and no I am not trying to question anybody's intelligence by making this whole analogy, I just didn't want to confuse anybody. (Might have made it worse, I don't know.)
Thanks in advance![]()
