Default Eviction Procedure in Washington D.C.

My question involves an eviction in the state of: Washington, DC

I have some questions regarding the eviction procedure in DC. I wasn't able to pay my rent for April (and now May). I received a summons and have to appear in court this week. My landlord said that if I pay my rent before the court date, that the case would be dropped. If I'm unable to pay my rent by that date, what could happen in court? Will they grant me more time to pay my rent or will they set a date that I have to surrender the apartment? How long will I have from the court date to pay or move? If I pay after the court date, can I stay in the same building or do I have move at the point regardless?
    Thank you

I found the following resources that may explain what you are up against.

    Eviction guide:

    US Marshals eviction guide:

    http://www.justice.gov/marshals/dist.../evictions.htm

    Landlord tenant statutes.

    http://law.justia.com/codes/district...ii/chapter-32/

I have no idea what kind of time frame there from the date of the hearing to the date that the Marshals come to your door and put you and your stuff out on the street.

I suggest, though, that you raise the money as quickly as possible if you expect to stay.
