Default Sex Offender Requirements in Former State After Moving to Another State

My question involves civil rights in the State of: WI

I was convicted of a sex crime in 2/1999 - received a 60 day jail term and 3 1/2 yr probation. I moved from that state to the state of Florida in 9/2006. I registered with the state in which I was received the conviction and with my current residence (FL) How can the state of WI issue a bench warrant for non-compliance of the State's Sex Offender Registry (2/2012) if Im no longer a resident of that state? Is it valid, how can i fight this and can I sue them since this warrant prevents me from leaving the country to another country since I already have a valid passport and no in violation of any law in the state im a resident of?

You were convicted in WI so until completely discharged from any actions by WI, they retain jurisdiction over you.

your argument would be no different than one by a person that robbed a bank in WI and then fled to Florida. WI can still prosecute.

I doubt you have any basis to sue them even if they improperly issued the warrant.
As pointed out, it's likely there is nothing improper about the warrant.

You seem misguided if you think you are NO LONGER REQUIRED TO REGISTER IN WISCONSIN just because you left the state. That is WRONG. You are required to continue to register there for as long as the law requires (fifteen years, etc...). There are plenty of non-Wisconsin residents registered there. I just found a guy in the WI Registry convicted in Milwaukee who lives a few miles away from me in Virginia.

Yes if you move (or you happen to be an out of state resident convicted in Wisconsin) you may very well be obliged to register in both Wisconsin and where you reside.

I'd be getting a Wisconsin lawyer to see if he can unravel this without you having to return to Wisconsin.
