I hope there is someone to help me. I got convicted for reckless driving in Virginia. Had to pay a fine and 60 days suspended jail time.
My question: I saw on the suommons with the final conviction that they spelled my name wrong. The officer wrote an H. for my middle name ( I dont,' have a middle name at all ) and an "i" instead of an "l" in my last name. I already contacted the court and the woman just told me that she changed it in the system but cannot give me a new summons because the officer filled it out and not her.
I will apply for an F-1 student visa ( change of status from J-1) and I am a little worried that they might not approve it. Not because of what I did. But because of the wrong name.
Does anybody know for what paper I can exactly ask or what I can do now?
I have to write a letter anyway to explain that traffic violation but I do not know whether I should mention that my name is spelled wrong and that it is already fixed in the system but nobody can give me a new paper with my real name. Or should I just leave it like that?
I really, really appreciate any answer I can get since the woman from court doesn't answer anymore. Thank you!!!!
