Default What Are the Consequences of Stealing From Your Employer

My question involves criminal law for the state of:

I shoplifted (as employee) about 8 months ago. Total, the amount i took was about 600$ (over a month span) however, on the day they caught me, it was less than 60. Through my anxiety, i have learned my lesson completely so please don't waste your time and mine and post about how I should of thought about the consequences before doing it, because i honestly wish i started reading these posts before even thinking about doing what i did. I contacted a lawyer and he confirmed that the SOL in my area is a Year. At the time they caught me, they asked to sign a statement saying what happened. NO WHERE DID I EVER confess, i simply stated the obvious. No police were called in. I was never arrested, nor have i been in contact with anyone and stayed clear of the location. I have four more months to go until the SOL runs out, but I am still paranoid as to what is going on. I know non of you are psychic, but in most of the posts I have been reading, someone either got a civil demand from the store, arrested, questions by the cops, was detained or interview by LP. I was neither. I simply came into work the next day to say that I quit. And never heard from them again
SO my question to you is, have you ever heard of a situation like this and or what are my chances of learning the hardest life lesson thus far without paying severe consequences for?

ALSO does the SOL start from the day of the stealing, or the day they found out about the shoplifting?

Awright, I'm going to admit something that I did that's pretty similar. I shoplifted tons of stuff from a really high end department store I was working as a CK specialist in, this was 15 years ago. They finally caught me with about 100$. I took far more than that. I was a real scumbag about it, quite honestly.

I signed a statement and I was fired. The police were not called.

Nothing ever happened to me. No cops, no warrants, etc. I have no clue why.

Only time will tell. But as long as it has been, it looks like you may have skated.

if they have done nothing over the last 8 months it looks like they will continue to do nothing.

the best thing you can do is never show your face in that store or any other in the chain and keep your fingers and toes crossed for the next 4 months

The Statute of Limitations starts at the time of discovery. Since you failed to identify your state, are you sure the SOL is only 1 year?

Just to clear up a point. When you steal from your employer - it's theft not shoplifting.
