Exclamation How to Prove You're Capable of Supporting Yourself

My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Texas.

    I am 17 years old , I will be 18 in 4 months .
I have a steady job and I have applications out on apartments in my town.
My mother and her unstable boyfriend of 3 years are my " guardians".
They are unable to support me , as neither of them have jobs. My mother refuses to get a job and her boyfriend cannot keep the jobs he receives. My mothers boyfriend and i also cannot get along he is a child in a grown mans body and we have very heated arguments where he often verbally abuses me. My mother has given him FULL parental control and she sits back and let's him take out his anger on me.both of my "guardians are also highly addicted to drugs and contribute to minors on a weekly bases, I also know if they get caught in this act I will get a downfall for it. We are living off of my child support and my fathers retirement pay (which my mom gets 1/2 of) . I have set my pay checks aside for emergencies and in the case I needed to look farther into this.
I've read that in the state of Texas you can get a petition saying that I am capable of fending for myself. I have many others that feel as though I should not live here .how many people do I need to say I am capable ?.my father lives in a different city an is unable to take care of me because of work.i need to figure out If I have the resources for possibly being emancipated . And I need to know if the procedure is even worth it considering I'm turning 18 so soon. My guardians refuse to let me leave at any point before I'm 18 or they call me in as a run away. So the option to move in with a friend or relative is not available.and when I turn 18 can I leave that very day? Without their consent? I plan to just walk out if I legally can. With a police men's help because my mothers boyfriend will through a tantrum.

Default Re: Texas Law on Emancipation . Not Sure on Some Things

The very day you are 18 you can walk out the door and never look back. With or without consent.

Until that day, though, your parents or legal guardians absolutely have say over where you go and what you do. Even if you qualified for emancipation, which is not at all clear, if you put your petition in tomorrow you would already be 18 by the time it was heard. So hang in for four months and you're home free.
