Exclamation Flying with a Felony Probation Violation Warrant

Hello, I'm looking to fly to Chicago from Las Vegas but I don't know if I can fly without getting arrested. I was convicted of Felony Perjury in Portland, Oregon and received felony probation in 2008. I ended up leaving, and for the past 5 years I've had a felony probation violation warrant. I have been pulled over by the police here in Vegas a couple of times and didn't get arrested. Actually the first time, I tried to lie about my name, but the cop could tell I was lying, so he asked me I had a warrant, and I said yes. He ran my real name, then came back and told me that they didn't want to extradite me, so he let me go. There was another time when I was with my husband when he got pulled over. The officer asked for my ID, which I gave to him; again, there was no problem, he didn't even mention that I had a warrant. So, I'm trying to find out if I can fly without running into trouble. I know that there are no guarantees, but I would like to know what my changes are. Also, I am fully aware that the best way to not get arrested is to take care of the warrant. Thanks ahead of time.

Your name on your ticket will be checked well in advance of you showing up at the airport. I can guarantee that if you put the WRONG name on your reservation (compared to what's on your legal documents), you WILL be detained at the airport. The best outcome would be you would be denied boarding after some short detaining.

If you can print a boarding pass you're most likely home free. If you try to get a boarding pass online and you are told you have to get it at the airport, you're not flying today and likely could be arrested.

I wasn't planning on using another name; I was just wondering what the chances were that my name would not be ran to see if I had warrants. So if I'm able to print my boarding pass, this should be able to tell me that they didn't run my name?

Nobody here can promise you smooth sailing. If you choose to be a fugitive, any encounter with law enforcement can potentially end with arrest. You roll the dice, you take your chances.

If you already know that Oregon is not interested in extraditing you, what do you want us to tell you? We're not in a position to confirm for you that they haven't changed their mind.

Yes, while I know that Oregon doesn't want to fit the bill for me to come back, I still wanted to know whether they did background checks since I would rather avoid being taken into custody for up to 30 days before Oregon said yay or nay. I'm terribly sorry I asked.

They have a list. If your name hits, they check it twice. YMMV
