    Default Underage Shoplifting

    Hello,

If you were caught shoplifting at age 13 and the department store let you off with a fine, does that still count as a conviction or a misdemeanor? The store assured me that the record is only kept on their store and not on criminal charges or filings with the public. Is that true and what does that really mean?

I would appreciate any answers. Thank you.

If the police and courts are not involved, there would be no arrest record, no court record and no conviction.
