Default Caught Shoplifting at Rite-Aid Under 18 (First Time)

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

Me and my friend (both 16) were caught stealing from Rite-Aid. We stole small 4 (about 5 inches or so , of height) wine bottles. The lady that caught us, made us sign paper work (putting our address, phone numbers, date of birth , name, etc). She said if we cooperated, there wouldn't be any cops involved. We did what she asked, handing down the bottles and filling in all the papers (which resulted to no cops involved). We both asked if we will be receive a ticket, and if we do what will be the cost? She nodded her head and told us thats up to the company to decide. We both were scared since we are clearly just teenagers and its our first time being caught. What will happen next? Will we actually receive a ticket, even if the cops weren't called? If so what will be on the ticket? Will the items stolen be mentioned on the ticket? Approximately when will we receive the ticket? How much will we have to pay?

Me and my friend are both freaking out. Please we need a response...

As you were told, all of this depends on how the company wishes to respond to your shoplifting efforts.

Oh thanks, if they send the ticket how long would it take for us to receive it in the mail?

As long as it takes for them to do the paperwork and the post office to deliver it. Could be a week, could be three months. Or more.

Likely not, but the charge of shoplifting would.

The cops CAN still be called, and a Minor in Possession charge added to things. That would mean you would likely lose your drivers license, and could be ordered to pay for and attend Alcohol Ed classes.

If you skate by with only a ticket....you are lucky....
