My question involves criminal law for the state of: Tennessee (Williamson County)
SWIM was arrested for possession of paraphernalia in March of 2012. He was put on probation and later failed a drug test in September of 2012. He appeared in court on October 10, 2012 and was given 6 months of probation from that date. He called his YSO (Youth Services Officer) on April 8 to find out when he got off probation because he forgot. He was told it ended April 10, 2013. He called again on April 10 to double check that he was now a free man. His probation officer called his mother and left a voice-mail claiming this was suspicious behavior and that she (SWIM's YSO) refuses to tell him when he gets off probation and threatened to put me back on the docket and more drug tests and what not. Can SWIM's YSO do that? and can she deny him of his right to know when probation ended? If she cannot and he has to appear before court, can he use the voicemail as evidence against her? SWIM was VERY eager to be a free man as he is almost 19 years old and feels like a criminal while he has drastically changed his life and even obtained scholarships for college. PLEASE HELP SWIM!
