Default Microsoft Window Activation Key Infringement and Potential Law Suit

An attorney recently purchased a listing of my Window 7 Activation key, and soon my previous deleted listings on the activation key were removed by ebay as a direct request from Micro$oft due to potential copy infringement. I have concern about potential law suit as a result of this incident where I suspect the attorney purchaser was a "spy". Please advise the possibility of law suit in this situation.

Realistically, we don't know any more than you do.

At a guess, though, I would expect to be contacted soon and advised that a suit has been filed. You'd do well to retain counsel in that event.

Please explain this to me a bit. Are you saying you sold your MS Windows activation key on eBay? did you provide the original copy of Windows 7 along with that key (I'm guessing not)?

Gee, ol' Bill wouldn't do that to protect his copyrights, now would he?

the possibility is entirely in the hands of the owner of the rights. Given we are talking MS here, I do not see them having a problem with financing such a suit.

    Very possible.

MS has sued many people and businesses for infringement in the past.

Apparently you didn't think this through when you put the activation key up for sale.

I sure hope this is a troll or somebody trying out some scheme they came up with to consider selling their key and not somebody that was actually dumb enough to waive such a huge red flag in MS' face and challenge them to sue them. I mean, seriously, ebay? How may people visit eBay? Heck, MS probably has automatic notices for places like that for when a MS product is advertised.

were these pirate copies you were selling?

were these student copies you were selling?

or did you just happen to have a bunch of windows licenses kicking around?

eBay does not allow sales of windows licenses because such a huge percentage of sellers of them were selling pirate copies
