My question involves a marriage in the state of: Nevada and District of Columbia
Years ago I eloped to Nevada and subsequently had a wedding ceremony in DC and had marriage licenses from both jurisdictions. I subsequently divorced my spouse in Indiana but the date used in the divorce proceedings was the second marriage date, the one in DC. That's the anniversary we always celebrated and it just didn't occur to me to use the first date. So all my legal divorce decree papers use the second wedding date. Is the divorce legal? I've since remarried, never thinking I might not be legally divorced from my first spouse. Are there any family law attorneys who could give an opinion?
