My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: CO
Planning to quit my company. Signed an Acknowledgement of Employment offer when I took the job that states 'will reimburse all relocation expenses if I voluntarily terminate my employment within 12 months of my Start Date'.
Company's relocation benefits handbook (which is a pdf document provided to me by HR and covers relocation benefits details; does not require signature on it from me) however has the following statement...'should I voluntarily terminate employment during relocation or within 1 year of the expiration of relocation benefits, company reserves the right to seek full repayment of all relocation costs'. To me this seems to imply they can come after me for reimbursement of relo costs for upto 2 years from my Start Date.
If I voluntarily leave 13 months after my Start Date can the company come after me for reimbursement of relocation costs? Or am I right in thinking that I do not owe them anything because the only document I signed states I can leave after 12 months of start date without having to repay any relo costs. Does the fact that relocation benefits PDF has different reimbursement related language on it (front page in Bold) allow company to enforce this language vs what is in the signed document?
Thanks for the help.
