My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Pennsylvania
My apartment lease renewed automatically for a year.
My original lease was for 6 months and I thought that after my original lease term, I would be paying month to month.
I sent them the 60 day written notice that I will be moving out in June via mail and when I went by the office today and they told me that I have to pay an extra two months rent because the lease was renewed for a year just a few months prior.
I am unemployed at the moment and cannot afford to pay the two months rent.
In fact, the very reason I want to move out is because I cannot afford the rent.
I do not recall receiving anything about a lease renewal although they claimed that they had someone drop it off in our mailbox.
I know that this question is very ambiguous but is there any room for negotiation with my landlord?
Again, I'm really sorry for this ambiguous question.
