My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Oregon
My original debt is through CareCredit. It has since been purchased by a series of debt buyers and is currently with Midland. I have received a collections letter from an attorney, and after researching his office, I have found that the law offices of Daniel P. Gordon has used really shady methods of collecting debts from people as well as not documenting settlement payments made. I would like to pay off this debt, but I am unable to pay the entire thing at once. In addition, I am afraid of giving them any money because of the bad reports I have read about the office. I dont know if I should ignore them or attempt to pay the debt.
I have requested debt validation, though it was not within 30 days of the initial notice. They did respond, even though it was not within 30 days of my request. Does that mean anything if I did not send the request within 30 days of the initial notice from the law firm? I dont have the original letter anymore I dont think. I am now really confused on what my rights are, what the law is and what course of action I should take.
I do know that i am getting married in three months and I really want to get my credit back up so that I dont effect my husbands credit once we are married.
Help?
Thanks,
Confused
