My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: CA
I signed a relocation agreement with Company A stating Id pay back 100% in first year and 50% the second year after if I left or was terminated from Company A within the first 2 years.
After 14 Months the division of the company I was working for was sold to another company - Company B. I signed a new contract with Company B and I now wish to leave this company.
As I no longer work for Company A, does my relocation expenses agreement still stand? Have Company A any legal grounds to pursue me to repay 50% of the relocation expenses should I terminate my contract with Company B ?
This was an international relocation so I estimate 50% of relocation costs close to $50,000
