Default Going Out Without Parents' Consent or Violating Curfew

My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Ohio

In the state of Ohio can a minor go somewhere with friends without their parents permission? I plan on going to a concert with a friend and I do not have my parents permission. Can my parents call the cops on me? If they do, what will happen? This is not a case of running away, I plan on coming back and can tell my parents when I'm coming back. I just want to go somewhere with my friends. 17 yrs old.

    The magic age is 18.

Expect to be grounded right up until you hit 18.

Just grounded though? I can't get any police charges on me or anything?

Sure. They can report you and your friends.

Look, nobody is going to encourage you to disobey your parents.

Heck, if you were my kid you'd be grounded permanently with no phone and no internet access.

    But that's just me

If you cause your parents to be sufficiently concerned about you that they call the police, what the police may choose to do when they find you... I don't care to speculate.

In the state of Ohio can a minor go somewhere with friends without their parents permission? No, and they can't in any other state either.

I plan on going to a concert with a friend and I do not have my parents permission. Then you'd best not go.

Can my parents call the cops on me? Yes.

If they do, what will happen? That's for the cops to say.

I just want to go somewhere with my friends. Then you'd better get permission.

They might. They might not. But if you're looking for an absolute guarantee that they can't or won't, you're not going to find it here. Because they CAN. We don't know whether they WILL. It will depend on a number of variable factors including how much fuss your parents make and how busy they are that night. The ONLY way you're going to go to that concert without the risk of being dragged home by the cops (and wouldn't that be embarrassing in front of your friends) is if your parents give you permission to go.

If you want your parents to trust you to be responsible, then act like you've got some sense and listen to them. Is this really the hill you want to die on? You may make your life up until you are 18 much worse for yourself, lose many more freedoms, and your parents trust by doing this.

If you just really want to avoid telling your friends "My parents said no," then tell them you're busy on that day or you have other plans.

Uy. Everyone who's responded was once 17, wanting to do something that our folks said "no" to.

Look around your room - how many of the items did your parents buy for you that are in there? My guess is about 90% at a minimum. Food, electricity, water, phone, clothes, computer, an education, Internet access, a roof over your head - get the picture?

When you turn 18 you are free to leave. They're also free to show you the door. Their home, their rules. Suck it up, buttercup, and read Shortie's footer while you're at it.
