My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Maryland. I received a citation for 'failure to obey properly placed traffic control device instructions'. The only traffic control device is a left turn arrow painted in the lane, and it does not have the word "only" painted in that lane, nor are there any signs posted on the traffic poles or street poles at that intersection. The traffic light does not have a arrow light either. Is this a valid citation? What if there were cars parked over the arrow or there was snow / sand / debris covering the arrow? How would I know it was even there? Also, this arrow was only recently painted in the lane - it wasn't there the past 10 years that I traveled that road.
