You also need to be aware that if there is a child involved, and you've told the court that this person is so dangerous that you need a protection order, that you asking for this person to be allowed back around your child opens the door for child protection authorities to investigate and possibly seek to remove the child from your care. Google the term "failure to protect". Texas and Florida are the two states that are virtually rabid about this - so think VERY carefully BEFORE potentially asking the court for something that may put you in the position of choosing between the someone and your child.
