Switching Price Tags, Paid With Gift Cards

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iowa

Today while shopping at target, I removed a sticker price tag off an item and replaced it on a much more expensive item. I paid with pre paid gift cards and left. Im feeling extremely guilty and nervous that Ill be caught through security cameras. I plan on going in tomorrow and returning the item. Lesson learned.. No steaking again. What are the chances of being caught??

My thought: If you return the item....and don't mention how you switched the tag...can't some other poor unsuspecting person be accused of it later? Like if John Doe picks up the item and the cashier notices that it should not be this price and calls a manager?
