Default Caught Shoplifting, Refused to Go to the "Back" What's Next

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Louisiana

My question involves police conduct in the State of: Louisiana

So, I live in Louisiana. I was caught shoplifting a pair of shoes from Academy. They asked me for them I gave them to them and offered to pay. They tried to have me go to the "back", I had my son with me, I refused, they followed me to my car wrote down my tag number. I got in my car and left. I want to know what I need to do at this point. I'll take my punishment if necessary but I wasn't going to subject my autistic son to that chaos. I made a huge mistake. What do I do now? Is it a safe assumption that they have filed a police report? Who can I call to find out who to pay or apologize to or whatever I need to do to handle this ASAP

It is a safe assumption you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. You may also have your disabled child removed potentially.

Either wait for the police to call you or call them yourself. Consult a few criminal defense attorneys, you're gonna need one.

Yes, that is a very safe assumption.

It's too late for that. You're looking at criminal charges now. How did you refuse to go back, verbally or did you put your hands on anyone at any time? I'm surprised they let you walk. The places I've worked, you could have been forced to comply.

"I wasn't going to subject my autistic son to that chaos.".

Then you should not have shoplifted.

Guess what other chaos you may have submitted your son to? An investigation by Dept of Children and Families. When a parent shoplifts with a child in tow....a copy of the police report can be sent to them also.
