Default Commission-Based Compensation Reduced Due to Credit Card Fees

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Virginia

I work a commison-based sales job plus minimum wage. I sell appliances and many other big ticket items. The owner charges me 20% of the credit card fees he recieves for any item purchased. He says this is an encouragement to get people to enroll in our store's credit card.

I had $32 taken out of my check from this weekend and only would be making about $100 in commission in the first place. Is this legal to do?

Default Re: Charged Credit Card Fees As a Commision-Based Salesman

As long as you still make minimum wage, he's free to use whatever cockeyed formula he wants to compute your commission.
