My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Nevada.
I recently had a background check done for residency in an apartment complex. A few days later I got a phone call saying I was denied due to child neglect charges on my record. I was never charged with this though. My daughters father passed away in June of 2009 and in September 2009, Just days after my daughters first birthday, a family member of his (I'm assuming) called CPS. CPS came to my house and said they were notified of possible drug use. He looked around my house and found it clean, full of food and toys for my daughter. He asked me a few questions as to why someone would think I would be using drugs. I admit I was in a little bit of a daze just having my daughters first birthday with out her father, and from planning and hosting the party as a single mom. He asked if I would drive in to Las Vegas, the nearest city to me, to have a hair and urine drug test done. I agreed. He actually come to my house that week and we drove into Las Vegas together. I did the drug test, and later the next week he came back to my house to let me know I passed the drug test and everything was fine. CPS would not be further involved. Now four years later I have had my third background check done, the previous two for employment and residency, and this is the first time these charges have showed up on my record. I have called CPS and they have verified the charges that are appearing on my record are from 2009. I don't know what to do about this.
