My question involves small claims court in the state of: Arizona
Three years ago I broke off a relationship with a horrible human being. Several months prior to that his mother gave me $600 for tuition, and said that I would pay her back by doing yard work.. fine, no big, I was glad to help.
After a few weeks of this my ex decided to date another girl while we were currently together. He was living with his mother at the time, and because of the emotional turmoil, I could not come back for work, it was too emotionally taxing. So now that he is hurting for money he is trying to threaten me with a lawsuit if I do not pay back. I never signed an agreement, but after we broke up I think there were some emails where I said that I would pay back. (this was post break up) but after he slowly became worse and worse, and both became crueler to me, I just ignored their emails and forgot about them.
I would like to know if emails can be used, and to what extent. Does there need to be an agreement, or can me saying I will pay it back be enough (while never saying that I was obligated to do so)
And during the last three years after we had broken up he refused to leave my parents phone plan, could I counter sue for that, and a vehicle I wrongly sold him for half of its value. (it was an emotionally controlling relationship, and wouldn't let me drive it)
