Default How to Find Out if I Have a Warrant Out for My Arrest

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California.

I am wondering if I have a warrant in another county other than the one I am in which case the warrant is for the same thing I was charged for after I was given the citation for the same thing. I was put on summary probation for getting in another fight and arrested for 3 or so months. However I forgot about the date of the citation over time to go see a judge over it and just recently found out that there is a warrant for a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. Part of what I am worried about is that if this will violate my summary probation once I go to court over it and will I get time? The outcome is what I wonder about. Can someone give me some insight on this??

Option 1: getting a lawyer! Comes with pretty much a complete view of what is going on and what will occur.

Option 2: not getting a lawyer! Comes with absolutely nothing but some educated guessing from strangers on the Internet.

If you are curious if you have a warrant in a particular county call the county court clerk's office and ask. They are the keeper of of the court records.

It is very likely that your probation will be revoked as a result of this offense so you face time on the new offense and the previous one.

You should probably pre-arrange bail, surrender yourself on the warrant and take care of this. If you delay, you will be arrested when you least want it to happen and the warrant will NOT just go away if you close your eyes and pretend it doesn't exist.

Oh, and as for calling about the warrant - some counties will not release that information. But, you can always call and ask. However, if they say "no," you have no warrant, that may not be the case ...

I'm with cdwjava on this one. If law enforcement has to pick you up, the judge will not look kindly on that. If however you turn yourself in, the judge just may accept your excuse and go easy on you, plus he/she is far more likely to work with you to get this cleared up. Messing with the courts is a lousy way to start out your life, so please get this taken care of as soon as you can. You'll sleep better knowing you won't have to always be looking over your shoulder's for the police. Good Luck.
