Question Answering a summons in Georgia

I am being sued by an attorney for a credit card debt that I had. In the papers that I was served with the documents do not list the account number they are sueing for. I had two accounts with the credit card provider and was recently contacted by a collection agency in reference to what I am assuming is the other account.

So my question is what is the best way to handle this situation, I have approximately 20 days to respond to the summons. The amount is 2480 I have contacted an attorney and when I told him the amount he suggested that I offer a settlement. Is this good advise and how do I make sure that any payments made will be on the right account?

It's a relatively small amount to pursue in court; if you owe it, it is probably worth trying to negotiate a settlement.

Thanks for the reply. How do I make sure that this will come up in the future especially since they did not include an account number for the amount that they are suing for?

By entering into a consent judgment or written settlement agreement which resolves the matter with finality.

Thanks for the reply. Will this cover both accounts that I have or just the one that they are pursuing? And how should I tell handle the collection agency that is also attempting to collect for the cc.

I don't know if the law firm represents the creditor for the other debt. Negotiate what you can.
