My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
So I was with some friends and got pulled over due to my rear running lights being out. When the cop aproched the vehical he asked who had been smoking marijuana and we all said no one and that we had no clue what he was talking about, he walked away just soon to return with a few more officers. They removed us from the car and asked me again if there was any pot in my car and said he was going to bring the drug dogs, I told him again that there was nothing in the car. We then were placed into seprate cruisers. The dogs arived, sniffed the car and then the cops just started going through it. The cop came back to the cruiser i was in and asked me whos backpack was in the car (it had about 6 grams of pot, scales and grinders in it). I told him i would like to remain silent. He then pulled me from the car, slapped cuffs on me and put me back in the cruiser. He released my friends giving them paraphanalia charges. We went back to the police station and then he released me 30 minutes later only giving me a ticked for "Knowingly possessing a controlled substance, marijuana". 2925.11(a)
I just want to know if there is anything that can help my case. I was never read my rights, if that matters at all. I plan on getting a public defender. Getting my license taken for 6 months right out of highschool puts a damper on my future. Plus the possibility of no financial aid..
