Default Powers of an Off-Duty Police Officer Working As Security Officer

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida

Hello! First off, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to address my inquiry. I sincerely I appreciate it.

The purpose of my question is to know more about the legal powers of an off-duty police officer who is working as security officer possesses? That is, a police officer who is "on the job" has powers of arrest, etc. If he has a second job as a security officer, do these powers extend into his capacity as a security officer?

Also, is an off-duty police officer allowed to carry his duty firearm while working as a security officer (even if it is not an armed position)?

Default Re: Powers of an Off-Duty Police Officer Working As Security Officer

A police officer's authority is 24/7. That authority includes carrying a firearm.

As to police officers working off duty jobs, each law enforcement agency implements its own policies concerning off duty employment. I would contact the specific agency as to what those policies are.
