    Default Immigration for Mother-in-law

We are green card holders (3/28/2002), however we've lived here in Florida for over 13 years. Both our daughers live here too and are married to US citizens. My husband's mother, who's 82 years old, is the only living family member he has left, she is still in the UK. We bring her over every year for 6 months, but as you can imagine it's getting more difficult to send her home, and for her to travel. She's scared now because of all the threats and because it's so tiring for her standing in line at the airports because of the security changes...it's now getting to the point that she's totally on her own for 6 months of the year in the UK and worries that someday they'll put her in a home... is there any way we can apply to have her live with us perminantly...we're more than willing to take care of her?

You need to be a citizen to sponsor a parent. Official information and instructions can be found here.

Thank you for that information, I spoke to an immigration attorney and he told me that my husband is able to apply for citizenship in March 2007, however he can apply 90 prior, which is January 2007, which he intends doing....but how long can that take? Can we do anything from this end (in the US) to extend his Mom's visa until he is officially a citizen? Are we allowed to take her out of the country before her 6 month visa ends and bring her back say two weeks later to give her another 6 months in the country? I would appriciate any advice.....
