Default Claiming a Dependent on Taxes

My question involves child support in the State of: TX

If divorce paper's state, I claim child as dependent on my tax? And ex does it and doesn't tell me? I am fine and don't have to do anything, but show divorce paper to IRS?

If you're the NCP, the CP has to actually sign a form (8332 from memory) - the IRS isn't party to your divorce decree.

I am CP, so I don't need to worry? He would need me to sign a form, for him to claim her.

Correct. But if he's already claimed her, it might be a bit of a pita to get it fixed. It will get fixed though.

No, I have always claimed her, but he just asked me for her SS#? So???? It may just be to add her on his insurance....

He doesn't like me, at all.....if I asked? He would not respond, why he needed it. So I don't bother. That's why I have questions, to make sure, everything is done (on my end) according to laws.
    Thanks for info!
