My question involves an eviction in the state of: California. I've lived in my apt building for 2 1/2 years and I've never once been late on my rent. 3 days ago my manager told me she was going to serve me with a 3day notice because their computer shows I didn't pay rent for feb of 2012! Almost one year ago! This happened once before, but they didnt give me a 3day notice, and once I showed them copies of my deposited checks from my bank they dropped it. So this time their actually giving me a notice to pay or quit. I already made a copy of said missing check, as well as every other check for every month since I've been here just to show how consistently I've been on time. I'm the only one in the building their doing this too and can't help but feel harassed and it might be because the owner of the building wants my apt free for their family member to move into. ( their family occupies the apt next to mine) On top of that, when the manager came over and told me I was getting the notice I had a prospective client over discussing a potential job, and I felt her accusing me of being delinquent really made me look financially irresponsible and faulted my character. Can I sue them for harrasment? Any advice on what I can do?
