My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Missouri
I have been working for a restaurant for over 9 years. My position entitles minimum wage + tips (1.5% of net sales per server) and has been since we opened. Out of the blue, the restaurant is saying that our position can no longer have a tip out and this takes effect Monday (1-14-13). We were not contacted to let us know until yesterday (1-8-13). There are three different areas that receive tip-outs; Expo, Bar, and Bussers. Two of the three have no change regarding tips and only one has been penalized. The garnishing of our tips is reducing our income by 2/3. They have stated that they will give us a 3 dollar raise, but that comes nowhere close to the money that we have depended on for so long. When we get asked questions, we are told it is corporates fault, it came from the government, (which is completely wrong) but we receive no answers.
My question is shouldn’t we have received some kind of notice more than 6 days? Are there any actions what we can take?
Thank you! -Amanda
